BALKAN DANCE NIGHT! Dance to the charged music of the VFO Balkan Dance Band, plus special guest, Podruzhki Women’s Balkan Choir. VFO plays music for international folk dancing with an emphasis on Balkan, including Greek, Macedonian, Bulgarian, Rom, Serbian, and Czech. VFO's local six-piece band includes Lonna Whipple on fiddle and the Bulgarian Gadulka stringed instrument, the beautiful vocals of George Kreska, also playing guitar and autoharp, Barry Angell on stand-up bass and mandolins, Michael Smidt on various wind instruments, David Ayala on clarinet, guitar and accordion, and Lesley Schneider on the Bulgarian Tupan two-headed drum, plus various Middle Eastern percussion.
